STUDIO TRAINING CLASSES

LePAWS studio training has several levels of training being offered.

LePAWS has developed several programs, each designed to achieve specific results. The approach is not one size fits all. There are four (4) stages to studio training.   The stage 1 and stage 2 are the beginning levels offered at LePAWS.  The stage 3 and stage 4 are the advanced levels offered at LePAWS.  Both Deann and Kathy are instructors, classes are one (1) hour long with graduation party at the end of the stage 2 class and also at the end of stage 4 class.  Recommended are daily training sessions at home for 10-15 minutes in order to practice what the instructors taught to you and your dog.  We do not expect you to do a formal session of training daily, however all owners play and walk their dog daily.  At these times, we want you to incorporate what was taught in classes, into the daily activity.

BEGINNING STUDIO TRAINING

  • Stage #1 Consists of four (4) classes that are one (1) hour long.  Introducing you and your dog to treats, a mark and how it used, a clicker and how/why it is used and learning how to open up communication with your dog. A basic discussion of "studio training" will prepare your dog for "on set" work  Discussion of Alright, Off, Quiet, Watch Me, stay, down, food luring, using leash for corrections and positioning.  Also in each of the first 2 weeks the discussion of the use of a "clicker" in training, timing of corrections, into to a crate, verbal versus hand commands, on your feet, stand stay, door boundary, and working on distance.  During the 3rd and 4th week we will work on leave it, finish, come and go to mark, into to come, the use of the long leash, auto wait and hard come.  Continue working with difference size marks, the clicker and use of treats.

  • Stage #2 Consists of four (4) classes that are one (1) hour long.  Review with owners all Stage 1 basics.  These classes work further with your dog in a crate, using a bait stick, working with a buzzer, the basic release, come easy, watch it, retrieve, discussion of CGC commands and basic test.  Work with all commands, introduce surprise commands and speak hand signals (how to get a dog to speak?)  Continue working on focus, distance, timing and going to mark.

ADVANCED STUDIO TRAINING

  • Stage #3 Consists of four (4) classes that are one (1) hour long.  A strong relationship involving communication must be achieved after Stage 1 and Stage 2 have been completed.  Owners must continue practice at home in order to increase the rate of learning each dog should be ready to do in these advance studio training classes.  Stage 3 consists of back up and Stay, Head up, Side or Flip[p it and Stay, Back up and Mark, Straighten up, Up and Off.  These tricks are used in movie production.

  • Stage #4 Consists of four (4) classes that are one (1) hour long.  This last series of classes incorporate all of the learning so far.  Discussed and added will be To build distance, Foot/Paw, Whistle Recall, moving from mark A to mark B, discussing what a story board is and how you become involved, pose, Get around/Pivot, chaining behaviors (commands), adding lights and camera, testing commands with added distractions and graduation.  Learning how a dog appears to do an act or action on T.V. that appears quite normal.  Learning more movie tricks while in front of camera
